Travel-inspired buys

  • “The New York Time 36 hours – 125 weekends in Europe”

FullSizeRender

if like me you are slightly fanatic about organising your trips in advance and knowing what cool stuff to see and do in a new city, this book is perfect for you! with 125 weekends in some of the the most beautiful cities from Norther to Southern Europe this book comes in handy if you are planning to travel around Europe. Despite feeling a little too “American” at times, it still gives great tips whether you are traveling solo, with your other half or with the whole family. It also helps that it has a stylish design (it looks absolutely great in my library….)!

Where to find it? The book is easily found on Amazon and most UK Book shops

  • “Scratch off World map Poster”

I recently got this poster for my birthday and I could not have been happier! it’s like its got my name all over it. What’s not to love? Not only is the quality great and the look and feel really nice, but it just gives you so much satisfaction to scratch off each little country while you explore the world 🙂

Articles and books

  • The Art of Travel, Alain the Botton

artoftravel

I was recently given this book as a present by some friends, and a simple look at the book cover told me I would have fallen in love with it. If you love traveling, literature, art  and you often find yourself asking deep questions about the meaning of moving from point A to point B, then this is the book for you. I found a lot of inspiration and renewed sense of purpose about my constant wandering around. I can really recommend!

Where to find it?You can order “The Art of travel” from Amazon

If like me you are a social media addict, you will appreciate the Instragram-tips provided by this article. I always travel with my canon, but sometimes you can find some pretty amazing stuff to snap while you are unprepared, even walking in your own town.  Your smartphone can whip out some pretty amazing shots if you know which filter to use to make the most of them

  • “Why travel Matters” A nice reminder to get off our arses by the Huffington Post.

Traveling matters because it’s hard to evolve when your surroundings never change and if you are looking to become a better human, you have to lose yourself in new surroundings in order to find another self”

Since the ousting of Mubarak in 2011, tourism in Egypt has dropped dramatically, as Western travellers weight their security concerns and chose other, “safer”, destinations. In this very nice piece (thanks Omar for posting this!) Anthony Sattin tells us why WE SHOULD visit this wonderful country.  I visited Egypt for the first time when I was just a little girl, and once again as a teenager with my family. We had an amazing time exploring one of the most ancient and fascinating civilisations, starting with a Nile cruise, and ending our journey in Cairo. It was a long time ago, but I can vividly remember the beauty of the country, the majesty of the Pyramids, and the warmth of the local people. it is definitely a destination I recommend, and one i would like to visit again soon

  • Barcelona GO!

Some sort of genius shot this incredible video of Barcelona. I cannot even explain it, you need to watch it! (video by Rob Whitworth)
